Issue #021 — June 1, 2026
THE DRIFT
He is generous with others and careless with himself. He keeps his word to his employer, his friends, his commitments to other people — and breaks it to himself without a second thought. He skips the workout he promised himself. He stays up past the time he said he would sleep. He eats what he said he would not eat. He tells himself it does not matter. It matters.
THE TRUTH
How a man treats himself is the template every other relationship is built on. The standards he holds himself to — or fails to hold himself to — become the baseline for what he accepts from others and what he offers to others.
A man who does not respect his own time will not protect it when others disrespect it. A man who does not keep his word to himself will not keep it reliably to others. A man who does not hold himself to a standard cannot enforce one in his relationships, his household, or his work.
The relationship you have with yourself is not separate from your relationships with others. It is the foundation they are built on. You cannot demand from others what you will not hold yourself to. You cannot offer to others what you have not built in yourself.
THE STANDARD
The Accountable Man treats his commitments to himself with the same seriousness he treats his commitments to others. He does not break promises to himself casually. He does not make promises to himself he does not intend to keep.
He understands that self-respect is not a feeling — it is a practice. It is built through repeated acts of keeping his own word, honoring his own standards, and refusing to accept from himself what he would not accept from anyone else.
THE MOVE
Identify one commitment you have made to yourself that you have been breaking consistently. This week, keep it — not perfectly, but deliberately. Every time you keep it, you are making a deposit into the account that funds every other relationship in your life.
NEW MAN. NEW PLAN. NEW STANDARD.
The Weekly Accountability
One principle. One standard. One move to execute every Monday.
